Is Fatty Acid Oxidation Or Fat Oxidation a Bad Thing?
Oxidation is regarded as being one of the number one killers in our society today because our bodies react with oxygen to create harmful free radicals. Why is it then that certain "diet pills" regard fatty acid oxidation as being a good thing?
Example: Stearoylethanolamide (SEA) has been shown to decrease food intake independent of PPAR and without changing hematochemical parameters such as glucose and triglyceride levels or leptin (a hormone involved with satiety) expression.
The appetite decreasing effect of SEA was associated with a reduction in liver stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD-1) mRNA expression. SCD-1 is the rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of monounsaturated fats and its reduction is believed to lead to increased "fatty acid oxidation" and decreased lipogenesis in skeletal muscle and the liver.
no it's not a bad thing, it's the natural chemical reaction where fatty acids enter the mitochondria and are oxidized/converted for use as energy
Is Your Drinking Water Making You Fat?!
We, The Detox Diet Divas, drink an abundance of water. Yes, many Divas are consuming over a gallon of water a day!
Did you know the human body is 70 percent water?! Yes, on average that's about 10-13 gallons of water in your body. And the condition and supply of that water is vitally important. When water is coming in and operating effortlessly as we Divas' like - then chances are you are on top of the world. When your body is fully hydrated you radiate with brilliance and mental clarity and your weight is right where it should be - you are all lined up!
But you can't just drink any ol'water...
The water must be purified and alkalized. That's right, chemicals (like chlorine) and bacteria, and impurities must be extracted. Your drinking water must have a pH over 7.3. And, please Divas don't be fooled by bottled water. Very few actually fit the bill.
So, you may say, I get the purification idea, but why alkalize and how do I alkalize?
We alkalize because most people consume too many foods and drinks that are vastly acidic, coffee, meat, and dairy to name a few. We call this the Standard American Diet (SAD). This type of consumption (SAD) equates to a highly acidic body.
Here's the deal: When the body, in its infinite wisdom, attempts to ensure pH balance, it takes excess acid and stores it in fat cells! This is why your drinking water could be making you fat. Most tap water comes out of the faucet being acidic. In tests conducted on bottled water by Dr. Robert Young, he discovered most bottled waters were highly acidic. (Several did pass the test such as Evian and Fuji) That is why so many people can't lose weight -especially those last 5-25lbs that won't let go no matter what. You see, acidic fat cells will stay intact until alkalized. A simple way to help alkalize the body is by drinking good pure alkalized water.
And now here's the how: An easy way to alkalize your water is by adding a dash of baking soda to your water. An even better way would be to use pH-alkalizing drops fortified with minerals. (www.innerlightinc.com/dawnsanders). The absolute best way is via a water purifying and alkalizing unit. There are several on the market and you can find more information on my website at: www.detoxdietdivas.com. Are you saying? "This is absurd - how do I consume all that water in one little day?!"
The Diva's Answer: It's easy - you simply must plan in advance and first you must determine how much water YOU need.
A gallon a day is not required for all Divas. Some need less and yes, some need more. The best way to calculate how much you should be drinking is by using this simple formula. Drink a liter of pure, alkalized water per 30 lbs of body weight. Therefore, if you weight 120 lbs, you should have 4 liters of water per day.
It is said that over 75 percent of Americans are dehydrated. The average person drinks about 1 liter a day and often times that includes the acidic liquids like coffee, and sodas. And here 's the kicker. If you don't drink enough water you'll get fat! Here's why: first of all, dehydration slows the metabolism. Even mild dehydration slows the metabolism by 3 percent. Secondly, many people confuse the body's thirst desire for hunger. And lastly, if you don't drink enough water, you'll RETAIN water, yes, that ghastly...Bloating!
So drinking enough water is imperative for the Divas! It is the foundation of the entire program. Make sure you take the time to calculate your own body's water requirements and then put in place a daily plan for how you're going to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
